New to FBC?

Welcome! We are glad that you found us! Church can be a confusing place and we realize that you may have a lot of questions about your first time visiting with us. We would like to ease your concerns and answer some frequently asked questions you may have.

How do I get there?

We have provided a map and directions for you here.

Where do I park?

We have visitor parking right across the street from the Sanctuary and Welcome Center that is conveniently marked “Visitor”, but you are welcome to park elsewhere.

When and where is worship time?

The classic, choir-led service is at 9:30 am, and the contemporary, praise-team led service is at 11:00 am every Sunday morning in our Sanctuary. Sunday School also meets at 9:30 and 11:00 for all ages.

How should I dress?

Some people like to wear their “Sunday best” while others dress very casually. Most people wear what could be described as “business casual”, but we want you to wear what you feel comfortable wearing. God sees your heart.

What can I expect on my first visit?

You can expect to be greeted by someone before you even enter the doors of our building and they can help you find your way and answer any questions you may have. We make every effort not to embarrass you or make you feel uncomfortable. We will invite you to fill out a guest registration card so that we can get to know you better, but it is optional.

What is the worship service like?

Our worship services are approximately 60 minutes long.  Toward the end of the service, the pastor will invite people to come forward to make spiritual decisions or join the church if they choose to do so. If you just want to talk to someone or have them pray for you, we are happy to help you with that as well. Our desire is that you feel free to worship, whether sitting, standing, or kneeling, hands raised or at your side. It’s all about Jesus.

Where do I take my children?

If you have a child age 4 or under, someone can escort you to our Nursery where they will be cared for by loving and qualified caregivers. You will be given a unique pager and sign them in as the authorized parent or guardian and by rule, are the only person able to sign them out and take them home when you leave. If our nursery staff ever needs to contact you immediately, they will page you or simply come find you.

What do you offer for teenagers (grades 7 – 12)?

We provide small group Bible Study for them on Sundays at 9:30 am in the Youth Room (upstairs in the Family Life Center building).  We also provide a youth worship service on Wednesday nights with a youth praise band and a message geared toward their needs. For more information, go to the youth page or contact Youth & Recreation Minister Peyton Porterfield.

How can I get involved in a small group or a ministry?

We have Sunday morning Bible study groups at 9:30 and 11 am every Sunday. Groups are composed of loose age groupings and use different Bible study materials, but we do not assign anyone to these groups. You are encouraged to visit a few and see where you fit it best. For more information, contact Leslie Walzel at the church office at 512-756-4481 or education director George Harrivel.

Who are your pastor, ministers and other staff?

Glad you asked.  Pastor Doug Lindley and our other wonderful ministers and staff can be found here.

What are your basic beliefs?
